• Jim Barnett Reserve

The stunning Jim Barnett Reserve is situated alongside the Waikato River in the Waotu area. It is home to trees such as totara, rimu, tawa, mangeao and rewarewa, and to birds such as the tui, fantail, kereru, bell bird, morepork, barn owl and the grey warbler. Such wildlife and plant life can be viewed while walking the 10 beautiful tracks that wind through the reserve.

Perfect for a day visit or a short stay, Jim Barnett Reserve has everything you will need such as picnic/camping areas, clean drinking water, and toilets.

Thanks to a combined effort from a number of local organisations and school groups, native vegetation and bird life have been recovered in Jim Barnett Reserve over the past 25 years.
